Hi Kevin

Thanks for your update. I continue to be impressed by the careful and
thorough way you are going about setting up the enterprise and keeping us
informed. Wish there were more I could do to help out, but you definitely
seem to have things well in hand. There is no question that you are in the
right area.

Don

eekos members only update - 11 Feb 2007

Hi all,

This is an update for eekos members only.

I will send out an ezine in a week or so to the larger group of interested
persons, but this is close members group.

Getting this email now is Jamie, Don, Ousman (Gambia), Walter and I.

Walter is my brother who has been interested in what we are doing for a
while now and interested in joining as associate to see how things operate.
He can apply to join as full member in a few months (6?). He is interested
in going to Gambia at the end of the year to assist in setting things up.

Jamie has taken off from UK soil to go to Japan to work for a year. Good
luck over there. He will still be in touch via email and skype and says he
will probably be more accessible than he was in UK - technology! He will
continue to work with us on the website and general policy.

-----------------------------------------------------

FINANCES

Currently we are catching up with all the financial papers. We are aiming to
have profit and loss and balance sheets for every month since we started.
Not much money going through, but there have been costs and some income
(Gambia installation of solar panels) and we want to get it all right as it
looks like we will be doing more transactions in coming months.

Money is a problem and I will send out the budgets for comments soon as they
are nearly done. Getting money for the Gambian guys is a particular problem
at the moment as my personal cash flow is tight until I re-mortgage our
investment houses in several weeks. I am nearly finished my part of the
budget and will send it off to Ous and the lads to look at (and to this
list). I think if we look to investing around £1500 all up (currently around
£500 owing from Gambia to Jamie and I), then with the orders for bores and a
house that Ous says is happening in Gambia, then that should be all paid off
and the guys on good wages by June or so. Once the budget is agreed on, we
can look to securing th money so that the guys in Gambia know they have 6
months sure wages and can get on with the work over there.

eekos Gambia

As mentioned above, we are still trying to get some money to the guys to
keep them going. this will all be on the budget sheets I send out soon.
Ousman says there is much interest in what we are doing and there should be
a steady flow of work once we get business set up legally. Solicitors are
proving to be a problem with the communication not working so well and they
always seem to be very busy. I am going to try another one who responded
promptly to my emails when I was looking for a solicitor.

Once I re-mortgage our houses here in UK and have the 6 month wages secure
for guys in Gambia, I will be looking to invest there to buy land and build
a few houses. This will also give some more work to the guys as well as help
pay for trips over there as I am still trying to pay off the last one!

-----------------------------------------------------

eekos UK

I have done some plastering that will go through books for eekos UK.

I am helping a friend put in piping and installation of a solar panel next
week. He will be purchasing solar panel, but it will be the first I get to
work on one, so will be good experience.

I have done a quotation for building works (and possibly underfloor heating
system) for the local school

Small amount - £1200 for first phase, but they have 3 phases, so we may get
more if we win this first one.

I have put the quote in documents section of UK section of members? area

I have been asked to quote on an underfloor installation and ground source
heating system for 3 house barn conversion. The barn is a development
project for the person doing it, so I have to first convince him that
putting in eco things is worthwhile as it costs more initially. Luckily,
there has been a large turn around in consumer desire to have eco houses and
two recent polls indicate home buyers will pay up to £10 000 more for their
house if it is highly rated.

This goes into the next thing we are keen to do over here and that is to
train up as household energy efficiency surveyors. As part of the EU, a
survey has to be done on all houses that are to be sold after June this
year, making a huge market for persons doing the rating. And there looks to
be a shortage of surveyor for the next few years. So I will look into doing
the course. It fits in beautifully with supplying alternative energy
installations and is very lucrative.

I have also been asked to quote on a solar installation to join a wood
burning heater system.

CONSULTING

I have been in correspondence with a person in the Kerala region of India
who is setting up an ecolodge. He is interested in our experience with
natural swimming pools. The architects he is working with are here -
http://www.inspire-india.com/

This is a bit of a diversion, but interesting and with the land there being
relatively cheap (beach front land £10 000 an acre) and plenty of tourist
trade, it might be an interesting area to set up in the years to come.

All in all, it looks to be a busy year and w are trying to concentrate on
helping the Gambian guys have steady income and also setting up in UK and
bringing more persons on as members.

cheers,

Kevin
