Steve, There's also a book about the plague and the village of Eyam by Jill Paton-Wolsh called "A Parcel Of Patterns", a much gentler read than "Year Of Wonders, though still very sad.

I didn't know that Brooks had written about the plague village. I knew that
there had been a couple of attempts to write musicals about it using
traditional music and contemporary texts but neither of them came off. Some
years ago there was a BBC radio play but I cannot remember anything about
that except that I heard it one afternoon when I was off work.
