To: FIRST Team Leaders From: WPI Office of Admissions Date: May 8, 2007 Re: Summer Programs Dear Nancy, Greetings from WPI! It's the time of year when students are searching for something new and exciting to do over their summer break. *Do you know some students who would love to spend their summer solving a challenging robotics problem?* Well, WPI just may have the perfect solution: *WPI Frontiers and WPI Launch!* *WPI Frontiers* is a two-week, residential program (July 8-20, 2007) for soon-to-be juniors and seniors. WPI Frontiers blends academic coursework in topics such as *robotics*, physics, engineering, computer science and biology, with diverse social activities, communication workshops, team-building exercises and field trips. Participants choose a "major" and get an on-campus research and learning experience working with WPI faculty and using state-of-the-art labs and equipment. This is a great way for pre-college students to test their interest in the areas of engineering, science and technology and to get a closer look at what college life is about! *The application deadline is May 31st (postmarked).* Tuition is $2100, however students involved in FIRST who wish to "major" in Robotics at Frontiers can apply for one of two $500 scholarships (please see the bottom of this email for details). For additional information and an application, please check out the WPI Frontiers Web site at www.wpi.edu/+frontiers. Should you have any questions about this program or about WPI, please feel free to contact us at frontiers@xxxxxxxx *WPI* *Launch* is a new summer program for soon-to-be freshmen and sophomore high school students! WPI Launch is a week-long (non-residential) program (July 30 – August 3, 2007) of day-time (9:00 – 4:30) sessions for students interested in biology, computer science, or *robotics*. (Participants select one of the three.) They'll learn from outstanding WPI instructors and students and use state-of-the-art experimental, analytical, and computer technology on the WPI campus. Tuition is $495. Please register by June 30th. To learn more about the WPI Launch program, please visit our website at www.wpi.edu/+launch, or email us at launch@xxxxxxxx We hope to see your students on campus this summer!
