Hi Teri,

The way we handle it here is to add a "Transcriber's Note" which says that
where the Copyright Symbol appears in text, it has been replaced with xxx in
braille. It's then up to you to decide what you want to use. Perhaps (c) and
(t).

Then do a search and replace where appropriate.

George Bell.

Subject: [duxuser] trademark symbol

Hi

In Formats, rule 5, it says:

"(2)
Nonalphabetical signs with no braille equivalents. Substitute the names for
print signs that do not have braille equivalents, such as copyright for © and
trademark for TM."

I have the trademark symbol occurring quite frequently in one particular
section of the manual I'm doing. Do I have to put the word trademark in every
time? Before I knew what the symbol was, dbt interpreted the trademark symbol
as a kind of asterisk or dagger shape. Is it acceptable to put this symbol on
my special symbols page or do I have to write the word trademark every time?

Also, what happens in british braille when the trademark symbol is encountered?

Thanks.

Teri
