Perky Duck does not do ANY automated formatting at all. As a rule of thumb
any formatting you can't do on a Perkins Brailler or with a slate and
stylus, you won't be able to do with Perky Duck.
My suggestion is that you make sure you have the latest version of Perky
Duck which is found on our web site under Products, then Freeware. A link to
our web site is found in my signature below. Next read through the Help
Topic to familiarize yourself with the functions.
If you are still not sure of something ask your braille instructor to
explain it. Braille instructors have agreed to support Perky Duck for their
students. That is how we are able to offer it for free.

Thanks Anne. I figured that one out today. Now for my next question.
I'm trying to make a running header. So for example I type in all caps
lesson 2 and then the page number. like 1. In a line of 40 cells I count
the characters including the page number and space. That gives me
14 cells. I subtract 14 from 40 and that gives me 26. I divide by 2 and
get 13. I start writing the word lesson in all caps and then #2 which I end
at the 24th cell. I space 15 times to get to cell 39 and write the number
sign and a for 1. When I emboss the page it comes out with the 1 underneath
Lesson so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but am trying to get the page
number in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Any ideas? That seems
to be the only thing that stumps me now.
