Hello: For scanning documents, I have used a Canon DR25-80 and a Fujitsu FI4010. The Canon unit can handle duplex scanning. The Fujitsu is nice since it has a bed and a document feeder. For software I use Kurzweil K1000. The Canon is supposed to scan at about 25 PPM, but I never saw that speed with the K1000 software. The faster the PC you have the better since scanning and OCR takes lots of resources. There are also overhead scanners such as the Pearl, but I am not sure they are as good as a flatbed scanner. Hope this helps.
