Bob:
I was just contacted about transcribing a book. I know that there are several
variables, but what is the ratio of print to braille? I was once told that it
is about 3.5 braille pages to 1 print page. The customer was wanting an
estimate. Thanks.

Very true. I try and tell them it is an equal access issue that will pay off in
the end. Sometimes they are convinced other times not.

I believe the really challenging part of what we do is to convince restaurant
owner/operators of the need. I have come across many who are in agreement of
the need, until you begin talking of the money that will come out of their
pockets. Thanks for the reply.

My menu business at Braille Enterprises has definitely decreased. However I
believe that at some point not too far in the future the business will slowly
return. Hopefully the restaurants will continue to see the value.

Morning all.
I am an independent braille transcriber in the Houston Texas area. About 95
percent of my business has been braille restaurant menus. However, as with most
businesses across the country, my business has dropped off due to the pandemic.
My question, as the subject line stated, is how many independent transcribers
have survived this economic disaster? My clientele started dropping off before
the pandemic, but it certainly did not help. Thanks.
