Liz,
I'm not sure if there are any rules for this situation, but I'd place the
marginal material above the text. I'd format it as if it were text, with a
transcriber's note preceding it stating that the following material was in
the margin to the left of the text. I'd probably skip a line between the
marginal material and the beginning of text. I'd also place dots 4-6, 4-6
at the beginning, and end with dots 4-6 to further indicate that the
marginal material was finished. Perhaps someone else may have a better way
to go about this, and can share it with us.
