Hi Sandra We use 10.3 and have two other solutions that can be used to fix this one: When you open the text file in DBT, change the import filter to "Duxbury coded text". Or, open an empty print file in DBT and paste into it the contents of your txt file. I resaved the file as text with line breaks and was able to get Duxbury to open the whole file--no missing pieces. I'm used to doing original typing in Duxbury and using a different translation software when I need to work from Word files (long, boring story). For that program I just use the save as text option. Being technically challenged, I didn't realize what I was doing wrong. Next time I'll study the manual a little longer! Sandra Who's not quite so frazzled thanks to you. -----Original Message----- From: duxuser-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Johan Roos Sent: Mon 5/3/2004 8:41 AM To: duxuser@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: Subject: [duxuser] Re: Losing parts of documents Hello Sandra Save your text file as text only, with linebreaks. DBT can't handle text that wraps. No doubt others can explain it better, but your problem is not a compatibility one. When I import a txt file into DBT Win 10.3 I lose the second half of most paragraphs. They just disappear. When I reopen the txt file the document is whole. I'm running Windows XP on the laptop. Could that be the problem? I'm also using an external keyboard for six-key entry since my laptop objects to doing dot six in combination with more than two other dots. Any help, suggestions, or information about compatability issues with 10.3 and XP would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to have wasted $1000!
