Don't forget that the students need to be able to read and interpret
whatever special code you use. Don't ever assume that a student knows,
Nemeth, or Chemistry code or UEB science unless you youself taught it to
them. Lists of symbols and their meanings used in a given document can
often mean the difference between understanding and a total lack thereof.
Not every student will tell a resource teacher they are encountering
symbols they don't recognizee and,, in the case of main stream schools the
student may have no one to ask. For myself as a lifelong braille reader I'm
having some difficulty with some of the UEB symbols. Can't wrap my brain
around them. Must be getting elderly. (smile) Anway, don't ever just assume
knowledge of specialized aspects of the braille codes.
