Hi Antonnette,

You can still use many of DBT's old codes in text documents.

However, there is no way to create the square bracket codes.

Having said that, with the introduction of Office 11/2002
later this year, I suspect we will see some major changes
all round.

Can one in some way indicate a Duxbury code while creating a
file in Ms Word?
When using good old DBT DOS and WordPerfect 5.1 we used to
teach typists who regularly submit files for translation to
use a few dollar codes for situations that WPBRI would not
take care of automatically. The translation process was
then as follows:

1. Use DBT's WP5TXT.BAT to create a Duxbury dollar-coded
text file.
Duxbury would change the original dollar symbol to two
dollar symbols,
assuming that a dollar symbol was required in the
translated file.
2. In the resulting .TXT file, globally replace two
adjacent dollar
symbols back to the original one dollar.
3. Save as text file.
4. Translate.

My question is: can the control+open square bracket, the DBT
code and the
control+close square bracket be simulated in the Ms Word
file so that
Duxbury
can recognize it as a DBT code?

I use DBT 10.4, Word 2000 and Window-Eyes 4.2.
I tried the command in Ms Word.
First I had to by-pass the Window-Eyes function of that key
combination.
Then I typed control+square bracket.
Window-Eyes announced "decrease font size an". (I don't know
what "an" means here).
and when I checked, the font size was indeed decreased.
