Subject: 3 reasons you should worry about Trudeau's fertilizer agenda
Hi Donald, have you seen the news about massive farmer protests in the
Netherlands? In France? What about Germany?
They're a long way away, so it may not seem relevant here in Canada. But
I've been digging into it, and I found three things you need to know.
Farmers are protesting because emissions regulations are shutting them down.
European governments have mandated a 50% reduction in emissions -- especially
"nitrous oxide" emissions from fertilizer. This target shows the politicians
don't understand reality.
The only way to reduce nitrous oxide is to use less fertilizer. Why? Crops
need nitrogen to grow, but they take it from the air very slowly. So to
speed this up, we use fertilizer to give them more nitrogen and increase crop
yields. It's after the fertilizer is applied that the nitrous oxide is
emitted.
So less emissions require less fertilizer. Less fertilizer means smaller
harvests, fewer farms, and less food, which means out-of-work farmers, higher
prices at the grocery store, and even food shortages!
Justin Trudeau is planning the same thing right here.
He hasn't talked about it much yet -- it's tucked away in his 270-page
emissions reduction plan -- but he's demanding a 30% reduction in
agricultural emissions by 2030. Just like Europe, this is going to mean less
fertilizer, higher food prices, and farmers out of work.
Fertilizer feeds our planet.
Something that doesn't get talked about enough is how many more people we
feed than we used to. In 1950, the world population was 2.5 billion, and
only about 890 million people were adequately fed (36%). Today, the world
population is 7.7 billion, and 6.9 billion of them are adequately fed (90%).
That means we feed almost 8 times more people today than we did in 1950 --
and we can thank modern fertilizers for that. It doesn’t take a
mathematician to see what happens if governments start limiting fertilizer.
I'm proud of our Canadian farmers -- and I'm sure you are, too. I think food
prices are already too high, and that hurts poor people the most. We can't
let Trudeau make yet another disastrous policy decision on the altar of
climate alarmism. Carbon taxes, gas taxes, and skyrocketing inflation are
bad enough. We can't let him damage our food supply.
Can you help me make sure Canadians know how big a threat this is? There are
two simple things you can do right now to make a difference:
Forward this e-mail to three of your friends who need to hear the real story.

We need to stop this terrible policy before it gets off the ground. Will you
help us, Donald?
Thanks in advance,
