I just asked that question to my friend Heike (how well should the pony drive
single before putting it with a experienced pony) and this is what she wrote
back to me.
"It needs to accept the bit and understand verbal commands. It also needs to
walk and trot quietly, and preferably knows how to behave in the canter as
this may happen involuntarily.
It also needs accpet a rein under the tail and a trace between the legs."
