Sue Sorger's solution with the EZ boots sounds like a workable one to me. Although the boots fit well at the bearing surface the front metal clip is placed too high causing constant friction right at the most sensitive part of the hoof. Placing the farrier's pad inside or the foam that EZ boot sells just might do the trick. I think I'll try it with mine. Has anyone removed the metal "teeth" that grab the hoof wall on the sides. They hold the boot on tight but they sure do some damage to the horn in the process. I've heard that endurance riders remove these clips with no loss of gripping power. Hard to believe but has anyone tried it?
