Today I decided after driving Max on the left and Ellie on the right, it was time to switch sides. Ellie is 6, Max 3. Max noticed as we hitched something was different but he stood quietly. When I asked him to walk, he was quite upset, started goofing around and jumping. I stopped them again because he wasn't behaving, lurching forward, and Ellie started lurching also. I asked hubby to walk in front, they would follow.........not. He tried leading Ellie, but they were both jumping and rearing. So finally he just went behind the carriage and when I settled them and asked them to go forward, they both reared and jumped, but Peter pushed the carriage which forced them to go forward, and he jumped on as they trotted forward. I don't usually like to start trotting, I like to walk the first Km., but we had no choice. They finally settled in and we kept the trot up for the first Km., then went down to walk for a down hill stretch, and then trotted again. I did some stopping and starting and they were okay. So my question is, how often do you switch sides? Should it be every time you drive? I think I need to make up a schedule, Max and Ellie one day, Ellie and Mom, Max and Mom (I've never hooked him with his mom yet), Ellie and mom, Left/right, right, left, this could get complicated! But I need to keep all 3 going I guess.

Debbie
