[drivingpairs] Rein Clips

The advantage of rein clips for tandem or four-in-hand is, that you don't
have to concentrate so hard on avoiding to have the reins being pulled through
your hand by a strong leader, so you don't constantly have to press your
fingers
together so hard to prevent rein slippage, which can make your hand tired and
gives you arm cramps. Instead with the rein clip you can relax your hand and
arm and concentrate on driving, rather than on holding on to the reins. So it
is of much advantage if you have strong leader, and you want a strong leader,
as that way he stays on the bit and you can steer him. But, the rein clip
does have the disadvantage that when driving Achenbach, you can not always
easily
correctly shorten and lengthen reins, for example in transitions, and instead
of properly lengthening your reins for example in the downward transition to
the walk, with the rein clip you can only move your hand forward accordingly,
which then isn't proper Achenbach and doesn't look so well. Also, you can
then owith that only lengthen all reins, and can't just let out the leaders
when
you want to etc etc.
