  You should consider yourself lucky.  My area pays $5.50 for a bale of
coastal and it is nowhere near 110 pounds.  Alfalfa runs $11.00 to $15.00 a
bale and these run 60 to 80pounds.  This is the normal price year round.
  I live in the central Florida area...beautiful driving year round also.
  So, you see you should not be complaining.  If I could pay your prices I
would be dancing in the street!
