[dokuwiki] auth-mysql and utf8

Hello,

i'm using auth-mysql against a flyspray database for user authentication. I had 
to change the characterset of my database from latin1 to utf8. Now i've the 
problem that dokuwiki doesn't show the german special characters in usernames. 
Where can i change the characterset for the mysql-authentication ?
