it should look like this
{{blog>journal}}
it`s a common misunderstanding. Most of the plugin authors use brackets
to indicate the parameters/options/data the plugin takes and to clarify
the plugin-syntax.
eg.
{{plugin>[opt1]|[opt2]?[opt3]}}
