Science and ICTs Fair 2007
With the aim to promote science and ICTs at rural level and to raise mass
awareness, a science and ICT fair was held at Sitakund Upazilla under
Chittagong District of Bangladesh.
This two day long fair was organized jointly by YPSA ICT4D Unit, local
government authority and the ministry of Science and ICTs at Sitakund Boys
High School ground during May 16 – 17, 2007.
The fair featured a number of stalls where local school and collage students
prepared and demonstrated their science and ICT projects. YPSA ICT4D Unit
introduced the local communities with new advanced technologies e.g. open
source software, portable equipments and their usage, software and hardware
solutions for visually challenged people etc. The fair also included lively
seminars where scientists from the ministry of science and ICTs lectured and
demonstrated Bangladeshi innovations and technologies that are readily
usable at rural conditions. Pictures can be found at –

YPSA is now preparing to replicate this initiative at other remote corners
of Bangladesh specially the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
