Marvin Gaye Playground and Rec Center?

Good evening all,
As you may have noticed, advocacy around fixing the Marvin Gaye Playground
has led to some recent action from DGS, including pulling up the badly
conditioned playground surface. However, as anyone in the community knows,
the condition of the playground is a symptom of overall city neglect of
that community, not the cause.
To make sure that we got the improvements that are most needed to make this
playground and rec center truly service the community, *a group of
residents came together to write this letter of suggested improvements

to go along with the petition, and other communications to DGS and DPR
around the park. The letter put together by a group of residents from the
NE Boundary community, civic association, and surrounding community
(including Capitol View). ANC 7C commissioner Dr. Mary Gaffney, the
Northeast Boundary Civic Association, Capitol View resident and creator of
the Marvin Gaye Playground petition Mandla Deskins, and neighbors from
Capitol View and Northeast Boundary all collaborated in the creation of
this letter.
*We would like as many signatures from community leaders, commissioners,
and concerned residents from our "East End" area as possible, to show a
local set of requests, so please share with whoever makes sense!*
