The Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP), funded by the US State
Department, places fully funded EFL teachers from Taiwan, Egypt, and Morocco in
US K-12 host schools for an academic year. The exchange teachers teach either
Mandarin Chinese or Arabic, and serve as cultural resources in their host
schools and communities. TCLP funds teachers’ salaries, healthcare, R/T
airfare, training, professional development, and ongoing program support. Host
schools provide mentorship and community support for TCLP teachers. TCLP is a
GREAT way to start or grow an Arabic or Mandarin language program at your
school. Fully funded and partially funded options are available. Informational

full-tuition support for four years of undergraduate study at International

High School Diplomats
Program Dates: July 21-30, 2023

High School Diplomats (HSD US) is a fully-funded 8-day summer program that
provides 20 American students the opportunity to engage in academic and social
pursuits and forge lifelong friendships with 20 Japanese students of the same
age. During the program, each American student is paired with a Japanese
roommate. Only high school sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. Those
American students who successfully complete HSD US are eligible to apply for a
full scholarship to travel to Japan for a month the following summer.

Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP)
Program Dates: Summer 2023
Application Deadline: February 1, 2023
IYLEP is a free 4-week US-based cultural exchange for both Iraqi and US high
school students who demonstrate leadership potential and civic engagement in
their communities. It is funded by the US State Department and administered by
World Learning. During the program, US students join their Iraqi peers to
engage in experiential activities and workshops in three program sites – in
Vermont, a host city in the US, and Washington, DC. After the summer, students
are expected to implement projects in their own communities. Applicants must be
US citizens, 15-17 years old, and have completed at last one year of high
school.

The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Program offers American high
school students the opportunity to live and study abroad in Germany for a full
academic year through joint sponsorship by the US Congress and the German
Bundestag. This fully funded program includes cultural immersion through living
with a host family and attending a German high school; intensive language
course upon arrival in Germany; meetings with German and US government
officials; and cultural excursions. Eligible students must be US citizens, aged
15-18, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. No prior German language study is required.

Congress-Bundestag Vocational Youth Exchange Program
Program Dates: 2023-24 School Year
Application Deadline: January 10, 2023
This is a fully funded gap year or 13th year abroad for graduating US high
school students with a vocational or career education background. Co-funded by
the US Congress and the German Bundestag, this prestigious program is for
mature and motivated high school graduates, 18 or 19 years old by August 1 of
the departure year, and US citizens, with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Prior German
language study is not required. Participants will engage in two months of
intensive German language training, host family placement, training/school
attendance, and hands-on experience through an internship with a German company.

The Kennedy-Lugar YES Abroad Program, sponsored by the US State Department,
offers American high school students and recent graduates full merit-based
scholarships to live and study for one academic year in countries with
significant Muslim populations. Students may live in one of the following
countries: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia,
Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, North Macedonia, the Philippines, Senegal, Thailand,
and Turkey. The program includes home stay and high school experiences that are
intended to increase mutual understanding between American youth and young
people abroad, and to deepen appreciation for religious diversity. Participants
also gain valuable immersion in a less commonly taught language. Applicants
must be US citizens, 15-18 years of age, and high school students at the time
of application. For Morocco and Senegal, prior French skills are required.

US Department of State Teacher Suite of Online Courses

The US State Department offers a free suite of self-paced global education
courses, which include lesson plans and videos, allow educators to engage with
peers and experts, and support educators in fostering students' global
competences. The courses currently offered are: Global Education 101, Teaching
Online for Global Competence, Solving Global Programs, STEM Innovations and
Global Competence. Educators who complete these courses will receive a digital
badge from the US Department of State and a certificate confirming five hours

Meta's Engineer of the Week Program demystifies engineering for learners
historically underrepresented in STEM and inspires them to use technology for
social impact. Partners of the Americas is pleased to partner with Meta to
increase the Engineer of the Week Program's reach and impact to the Americas.
Facilitators are now being recruited to spend approximately 15-20 hours with
students to help guide and implement one of three project types - Chatbox for
Change, Play for Impact, and Products with Purpose. The first 200 facilitators
to sign up and complete the program will receive a stipend of $850-$870. No
prior experience with STEM education is required.
