How funny that you should bring this subject up. I am just about to
purchase an amp that just came on the market this month. Here comes the
paragraph where I try to impress all of you with my vast experience with
tone.
I have extensively memorized most of the Line6 product manuals for the M13,
Pod HD500, the Boss ME25, Vox digital amps, and on and on. Currently I have
a Flextone III amp by Line6. And that's not even talking about the over 80
amps I've owned through the years from Fender to Mesa and beyond.
So, when I tell you the following amp to check out, it's not without
considerable risk to my credibility that I say the following:
A new generation of Fender modeling amps just hit the market this month.
The Fender Mustang GT series is so exciting! I am testing the Mustang GT
200 and WOW! 2 12 inch Celestian speakers, 200 watts of stereo power,
stereo XLR outs, stereo effects loop, Wifi and Bluetooth accesibility!
Comes with an ap called FenderTone, and you can get to the amp models and
parameters via your iPhone!
It has a couple of bugs with the Bluetooth, but they are issueing fixes via
the wifi to resolve known issues, and I'm pretty sure that some of the
problem for me is that I haven't officially registered the amp yet.
The 200 watts model goes for $599.00, but they have smaller mono version
that go for much less and would be great for a DAW.
These models blow away the Line6 stuff in my opinion!
I never had much respect or intrest in a Mustang before, just a cheap
modeling toy. But according to the Fender rep who frequents the music store
where I teach, Fender decided to make a commitment to totally retool this
line and they did it in my current opinion. I'm still testing it though,
but the sounds are inspiring and incredible. Whatever you thought about a
Mustang before, give the new Mustang GT a hard look. I know I sound like a
commercial, but I've never found anything that do what these amps promise.
Almost forgot, the Mustang GT 200, yeah, less than 35 pounds. Crazy!
