I just looked it up, and it looks like a plugin? Perhaps I should access it
through sonar then?

actually Roy was the one to suggest it.
    i have never tried it,
i only suggested you should try the demo. i heard the audio demo and it's
not bad at all. of course it is impossible to do a clean extraction but it can
work pretty good for remixes.
and one thing i'm sure is that it will work much better than sound forge
for that purpose.
    saludos

      Luis,

Will sound forge do the same thing this other program you suggested does?

i have no idea but i suggest you try it.
it may have enough presets to do the job.
        good luck.

          Hi Luis,

Thanks for the info. Do you know if this program is accessible with
jaws?

            hi Omar:
you can try the extra boy demo and check if it'll work for you.
i think that it may be enough for working electronic stuff. i have
heard a lot of versions made with the original track and only using eq and
creating music on top of it.
and it doesn't sound bad, it depends on what you want to
accomplish.
            .

I've just been searching the net for a way to do this, and I
guess there's no genuine way of getting perfect acapella using any kind of
software. They're saying that you can get the acapella to songs if you get them
on vinyl.

                Hi Omar
I've just checked and there is an option in Audition the centre
channel extract and one of the presets is accapella (apologies for the
spelling). It's as good as the vocal remove in that it certainly focuses on the
voice but there is still a trace of the background music. It's good but perhaps
not good enough.
                Regards.

                  Gordon,

Will the software you mentioned work for waht i'm trying to
do? I just want vocals and not the music.

Apologies if this is the case. I should have read things
more clearly.

I thought Omar wanted exactly the opposite of what you
are suggesting!!!
He doesn't want vocals removed from a track to make it a
karaoke track, he wants to extract the vocals and disregard the music!!!

                        Hi Omar
There are one or two programs which purport to help
extract vocals. There is Vocal Remover which can be googled - it has accessible
menus but does need a bit of Jaws censoring if you wish to follow their
instructions for vocal remove. Sighted help would be advisable the first couple
of times til you get used to the layout.
It's fairly good but if there's echo on the vocal track
you may be left with some trace.
I also Use Adobe Audition 1.5 - this has a vocal remove
option. It's more effective I think in some of the songs I've tried, but it
still leaves a trace in some cases. What can be helpful here is to purchase an
instrumental version of the song and lower the main instrument - this can work
well.
I'm maybe telling you what you know already but Itunes
has a large range of Karaoke songs, many of which are of excellent quality.
Napster has too, but not some many. I usually type in the Istore search
karaoke, and the name of the song or the artist - often I'm surprised.
Hope this helps and is not giving more than you wish.

                          Hello,

I'm interested in doing remixes of coversongs, but my
question is: do we have access to any kind of software that will allow us to
extract only the vocals out of a song, so that we get the accapella version of
it?

                          Thanks.
