i don't think that guitars, organs, pianos , electric pianos, human voices and orchestral or any other acoustic instruments can ever be replaced by a good sounding patch in a synthesizer whatever technology is used. it will always be a good SIMULATION but it will never be the real thing. so a good synth with quality sounds will allow us to make music but if one is lucky to have an original rhodes , hammond, wurlitzer, vintage guitars or amps., one can have a taste of the magic there is to play the real thing. in the 80's there was all these new synths that could recreate acoustic sounds with some level of accuracy but from the mid 90's to now there is a lot of interest in vintage instruments, and the quality of recordings has been enhanced considerably because of that. just compare music from 70's and 80's and 90's and seems to me that the sound was better in the 70's then the 80's and it has gotten much better from the mid 90's to

now.
because a lot of these recordings are made using vintage mikes, mixers instruments and so on, combined with all the possibilities of digital technology.
