Two more things:

1. The Bible when it comes to Mastering is a book:
Mastering Audio; the Art and the Science, by Bob Katz. 2nd edition, published by Focal Press. Important! Don't just grab the 1st edition from Bookshare - about 50% of the content was revised, reorganized and improved for the 2nd edition.
Magazine Review detailing the contents:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct03/articles/bobkatz.htm
I believe that's a review of the 1st edition.

2. Look for mastering forums online where knowledgeable professionals congregate and share information, not just hobbyists. There probably isn't an area where more voodoo and plain wrong information gets propagated than mastering. OH, except for audiophile marketing, sellers of speaker cables selling thousands of dollars.

Two sites to check out are:
www.digido.com/ -
(Bob Katz's site, containing articles, a user forum, a list of excellent-sounding albums in various genres, etc.)

and
Brad Blackwood's mastering forum:
http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/f/31/0/

Be very wary of forums like the mastering forum at Gear Sluts, or the one at www.homerecording.com. Great for beginners, but you have to waid through the mirky flood of misinformation, flame wars, bickering, etc.
