I have never owned the fw1884 so I can't speak for it personally, although I did train somebody who had one along with the side car and it seemed to work well. I think the alesis master control is better as a control surface than it is as an audio interface. Maybe if they improve their drivers it will be better, right now it doesn't handle the load of heavy projects running at low latency the way my mackie onyx or motu do, and even the m-lan fw support on the motif does better. But the scrubbing does work quite well if you set the scrub resolution to ticks in the mackie control surface options dialog in the tools menu of Sonar.
