Hi I did this on my computer which has 8.1 you will have to reinstall jaws I use NVDA on this computer because I can't afford the JAWS upgrade. I have JAWS 14 and that is what I'm sticking with.

Hi bill, I just recently installed Windows 10, and indeed there is no classic theme installed, to be quite honest, the new start menu is still a pain.
In fact, I went to install Windows 10 using Windows 7, and knowing that I could use Jaws, realized that I had to uninstall Jaws and re install Jaws once installing Windows 10, after speaking to tech support from Freedom scientific, I installed Windows under a real PC computer and my Mac under Windows 7, and in both instances, I had to re install my video, sound, and all drivers to make it work properly.
I will conduct the same tests under Windows 8, and let you know how that turns out.
Hopefully wouldn’t be as pain staking as the Transision to Windows 7, to that of Windows 10.
There is one good thing about all of this, at least I didn’t loose my documents lol.

Hi,

In fact, both SONAR and CakeTalking will install and run OK under Windows8.
But the problem is that Microsoft withdrew support for the Windows Classic
theme in Windows8 and 8.1. CakeTalking relies on that theme in order to
reliably predict the position of particular items on the screen.
Consequently, a number of important functions of CakeTalking fail under
Windows8 and 8.1.

As far as we know, Microsoft has not reinstated support for the Windows
Classic theme in Windows 10. If anyone knows otherwise, please let us know.

Bill

7 anyway...

I wonder if this will change on windows 10.

As far as I know, it doesn't; and it definitely won't be of any help
with versions of Sonar after 8.5.

Do any of you here use the latest version of CT with Windows 8.1? If
so, how does it work for you?

Thanks,

Bobbi
