We are pleased to announce that the workshop is definitely going ahead in March 
2012! so make sure you contact us to book your place. 


We have already raised enough money and sponsorship to enable us to host the 
workshop at no cost to attendees and we will be catering morning/ afternoon tea 
and lunch for free.


Our first workshop will be specifically for Pacific Islanders with albinism 
from both Australia and the Pacific Islands.. The workshop will be preceded 
with an informative presentation by our guest speaker Professor Peter Soyer, 
Professor of Dermatology from the University of Queensland which is open to 
anyone with albinism and their friends, family, carers.  This workshop will 
allow Pacific Islanders a chance to share stories, determine their 
commonalities and to work to formulate the best plan to help people with 
albinism in their communities.


Date: Thursday, 29th of March 2012
Place: Ipswich Central
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm (including Morning/ Afternoon Tea & Lunch)
Keynote Guest Speaker: Professor Peter Soyer, Professor of Dermatology, 
University of Queensland.


    Program Overview: 
9.30am Morning session:
    Open to anyone with albinism and their families. 
    Keynote Speaker Presentation 
    Personalised discussion of people's skin issues 


11am Morning tea


11.20 Midday Session:
    Commencement of closed workshop for Pacific Islanders with albinism and 
their designated family members. 
    Share stories, determine their commonalities 


1pm Lunch Break


1.40pm Afternoon Session
    Discussion to formulate the best plan to help people with albinism in their 
communities 
    Formal topics discussed will be genetics, vision impairment and an 
introduction to adaptive technology and services available for people to access 
in Australia. These will only take up a small portion of the workshop.


3pm Close



The majority of discussion will be topics introduced by workshop participants, 
any item that people wish to bring to the table will be welcomed!


Overally we are looking forward to a fun, social event for people to make 
friends and to discuss issues specific to having albinism and being a Pacific 
Islander.
