NDS News Update - New NDS State Manager for Tasmania appointed Sent: Monday, 9 January, 2012 7:06 AM From: "National Disability Services" <nds@xxxxxxxxxx> News Update - 9 January 2012 - New NDS State Manager for Tasmania appointed National Disability Services today announced the appointment of new Tasmanian State Manager, David Clements, who will commence duties mid-February. David has a strong background working in both government and non-government sectors, having experience as a Senior Policy Adviser to Tasmanian Ministers for Health and Human Services. He has significant experience in the major policy areas of child protection, disability, housing and health. David was instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a landmark government decision to increase the wages of Tasmanian Disability Support workers in 2009. He will bring to the State Manager's position a commitment to enhancing the partnership between government and the non-government sector in the delivery of disability services. David Clements will follow long-serving State Manager Margaret Reynolds, who is leaving NDS to work with the Australian Centre of Excellence in Local Government. There she will promote disability access opportunities for local councils at a time when Federal and State governments are working towards the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. NDS Chief Executive Dr Ken Baker congratulated Margaret on the tremendous job she has done in supporting NDS members in Tasmania and promoting equitable access to quality services for people with disability in Tasmania. NDS Members and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to acknowledge the work done by Margaret Reynolds prior to her departure on 17 February. 2012 will be a significant year for NDS because of its vital role in working with State and Federal Governments to shape and implement major reforms in disability policy.
