News Update - 9 January 2012 - New NDS State Manager for Tasmania appointed

National Disability Services today announced the appointment of new Tasmanian
State Manager, David Clements, who will commence duties mid-February.

David has a strong background working in both government and non-government
sectors, having experience as a Senior Policy Adviser to Tasmanian Ministers
for Health and Human Services. He has significant experience in the major
policy areas of child protection, disability, housing and health. David was
instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a landmark government decision to
increase the wages of Tasmanian Disability Support workers in 2009. He will
bring to the State Manager's position a commitment to enhancing the partnership
between government and the non-government sector in the delivery of disability
services.

David Clements will follow  long-serving State Manager Margaret Reynolds, who
is leaving NDS to  work with the Australian Centre of Excellence in Local
Government. There she will promote disability access opportunities for local
councils at a time when Federal and State governments are working towards the
introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

NDS Chief Executive Dr Ken Baker congratulated Margaret on the tremendous job
she has done in supporting NDS members in Tasmania and promoting equitable
access to quality services for people with disability in Tasmania.

NDS Members and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to acknowledge the
work done by Margaret Reynolds prior to her departure on 17 February.

2012 will be a significant year for NDS because of its vital role in working
with State and Federal Governments to shape and implement major reforms in
disability policy.
