Thanks for your thoughts Alan.
As you will see from my reply to Mr P I am aware of the poor security
aspect etc...
Command line work, nah! tooooo much work typing.
As I mention in my Reply... "7zip" does do AES-256 encryption as does
"WinZip" recent versions.
Thanks
Dave
A different and more secure approach would be to create the Sparkfile or
zip file as usual and then encrypt it using Nat Queen's ports of "PGP and
security utilities for RISC OS" see:
http://www.queen.clara.net/pgp/acorn.html
About a third of the way down the page is: Encrypting confidential data
!Q-Lock 1.5.1a (version b is for use with Virtual Acorn).
When you need to view or add to the Spark or Zip file, decrypt the file
with !Q-Lock (assuming you've remembered the "key"), use SparkFs etc to
open it, use it and then encrypt again.
Assuming that this uses a port of GnuPG then it may even be possible to
decrypt the file on a PC using something like Gpg4win:
https://www.gpg4win.org/
Again, apart from "playing" with PGP after attending a talk by Nat Queen
many years ago, I've not tried the above on modern equipment.
