Hi,

OK, so corrupt file, still raises useful questions.

I normally just treat all the files in a ZIP as files and drag them
out before doing anything with them

Yeah, but RISC OS will see a zip and treat it as an image file. It can't make the exception you do.

It would be useful if the SparkPlug 'Test' button wasn't greyed out
(have I accidently installed the free version, and that's a paid-for
function?), and/or the SparkFS 'Test' button did a CRC test.

It is not a paid for feature, and from my website:

"Click to download Spark 2.29
free full working version 26/32 bit compatible"

You can have the full Spark for free from:

https://www.davidpilling.com/spk229.zip

(tragically now over 30 years old)

I imagine the Spark archive code had a test facility and the Zip does not. With SparkFS I came up with the time saving idea of making "test" copy the entire archive contents to null: (easy with a file system).
