So, the way that "I" wrote the summary poem was to simply copy the email
into a prompt that said little more than "Please write a Shakespearean
sonnet that summarizes the following text: [INSERT TEXT HERE]"
If you look at the text that I copied, the first paragraph has almost no
context, as it's just a direct reply to an earlier email. If you just
handed that paragraph to a person and said summarize this, they'd probably
have no idea how, since it's unclear what it refers to. The context
doesn't get added until the second paragraph. And, my email is only four
sentences long and I requested that it be "summarized" into *fourteen *
lines.
It's unclear if the model "understood" my email the way a person might, but
it certainly rewrote it very coherently, without obvious puffing up of the
text, and crammed it into an extremely rigidly defined format without it
sounding overly awkward.
"Facts" don't matter in an operation like the above. The only "wrong"
answer would have been a "bad poem", which I honestly don't think it gave
me. I'm a crappy poet to begin with, and I know from personal experience
that even if I could have written the poem that Bing wrote for me, at all,
which I honestly don't think I could have, it would have taken hours if not
*days* of effort. That it spat that thing out in a few seconds just blows
me away. That's not a calculator that did that.

Also, Bing now uses the same large language model as ChatGPT, although I
believe they are using a different role. You can do most of the same stuff
in Bing now that you can do in ChatGPT, with the additional benefit that
Bing actually checks the web before answering.

I have to admit, Bing writes better sonnets than ChatGPT.
