To commemorate this historic rocketry achievement, DART will host a
"Rockets of the Space Race" launch on December 10 (rain date Dec 18).
Please bring your Saturn 1 thru 5s, Mercury Redstones, Little Joes,
Atlases, Gemini Titan IIs. Bring your Sputniks and Vostoks and N1s. While
you're at it, bring your Space Shuttles, Falcon 9s, and SLSs. Launch any
scale up to a G motor (and which won't exceed our altitude limit of 1,000
feet). Anything larger can be shown off as a static display.
TARC teams are also encouraged to participate. The TARC rockets could
include a message or an astronaut's quote for that launch day. Or maybe
add some Apollo-ish roll patterns, lettering, or flags to their rockets.
There will be no formal program. Just bring your historic rocket(s) and
prep and launch at your leisure. If you can convince someone with a Vostok
to race your Mercury, or a Saturn to race your N1, we'll do it!
This is not an exclusive launch. Non-historic rockets are also welcome.
