Hi Mags,
"They will be privatising women next" relates to a phrase when Maggie Thatcher
and the Conservative Party were privatising all the public utilities, i.e.
selling property, businesses and such like which once belonged to the people,
everything they could lay their hands on, for as cheap a price as possible, way
back in the 1980's. Some wag...I can't remember his/her name now, said, "They
will be privatising women next". The phrase just seemed so stupid to me, and
it is of course, that it just, for some reason, tickled my sense of humour, and
made me burst out laughing, has stuck with me over the years.
In the UK, up until the 1870's, married women were, mere chattels of their
husbands, their social property with whom they could do with what they liked,
and had no rights to have legal property, real or personal of their own, and
any wages they earned belonged to their husbands, and they had no right to sue
for redress on their own behalf. (goes way back to the feudal system). This
was corrected by a number of Property Acts in the 1870.s, during Queen
Victoria's reign, when the Married Women's Property Act 1870,was passed and
then there was associated legislation after that, such as the various Land and
Real and Personal Property Acts, The Law of Property Act and the Trustees Act
of the 20th Century, and last of all the Wills Act, which completely
revolutionised property relations between men, women and their heirs in the
United Kingdom.

I was totally opposed to the privatisations, but as an amateur investor, I
couldn't resist investing in the sell offs, made a fair amount of money too.
It has mostly stopped now, as Harold McMillan, a past Conservative Prime
Minister famously said, they have sold off the family silver.. Quite a funny
speech...:-)

Gender change in the NHS being made available for children, I must say, I
haven't heard anything about.... I have seen programmes on television about
children who were unhappy with their bodies, and the quandary some parents and
doctors are in regarding any treatment or therapy they may require to resolve
the problem.

It was this sentence which occasioned my questions. You were talking about the
NHS & asked a very important question
P.P.S. What is socialized medicine? Is it something to do with privatising
women...:-)
There's talk of legislation in the UK to create as protected categories freedom
in "gender identity" and "gender expression"
This may or may not include NHS (probably will) but it definitely has an impact
on women. I see your smiley but I don't exactly get what you mean by
"privatizing women"
Cordially
