If we knew that then it wouldn't be the Singularity.  People have this
misconception that something fantastic or catastrophic will happen.  The
truth is we just don't know.  The Earth's curvature supposedly has an
effect on vision after 52km.  The Singularity can be considered to be the
distance further than that.  Which also implies that if you keep moving
forward, the Singularity moves as well.  Which is exactly what happens
too.  We might not be able to predict what happens in 2030, but next year
they might invent better tech that gives us a better understanding.  So
it's not really clearly if we will ever reach the Singularity.

On a more philosophical level, it could be like the movie Adaptation, where
the guy writes himself into his own story.  The future "us" may just be a
race of AI's that evolved from augmented humans etc.  So while keep
searching for the Singularity, we might not realize that we already passed
it.

Computers can process things a squillion times faster than a human brain

But computers cannot think, which implies that they can't learn either (by
themselves).

But what if they made a computer that could learn just teeny tiny bit?

Then that computer could potentially reprogram itself to become smarter.

And it's offspring would do the same, at a rapid pace, till the point is
reached where computers outsmart us

At that point, we will no longer to reliably predict future trends

That is the Singularity.

I’m pretty sure we did this in basic biology – either school or varsity, I
forget which. They’ve mapped most functions to the specific brain areas.

Think about how long people have been studying brain injuries and general
head trauma. Mapping on the various regions was done back in Da Vinci’s
time. Actually mapping to functions came later – mainly really got off the
ground in the 1960s or something with proper MRI tech.

Transhumanism can exist. It just means the evolution of man into something

I’m basing what I know on Saudi and Qatar.

If it’s Qatar, you have zero chance with a local since they’re all pretty
much upper class and super rich. The locals may work together with expats,
but they don’t really socialise with us. Qatari women can work if they want
to – and some do, but it’s not necessary. Also, do you speak Arabic? And
are you really, really rich? And from a good family? I mean, like royalty?
If not, then don’t bother.

Tell you what, why don’t you look up what the Qatari GDP per capita is.
Just check Wiki or something. Do you earn close to that?



Saudi is a little different. You will never have the opportunity to meet a
women there unless it’s a foreigner and it’s at your hotel lobby or alike.
If you somehow managed to find a local woman, and talk to her, and somehow
impregnate her, you would be executed. Her as well, most likely.
