My strat was different.
Jump atound like a lunatic, do random shit, wait for an opening and then
combo. 30+ damage, thanks. The random stuff got me damage from uppercuts
and also prevented him from getting his biggest damage combos.
To be fair, Draeka didn't know the Quan match-up well. Also, ice-clone
means nothing to Warlock Quan.
I also used low pokes to low launcher string, but he adapted to it really
early, so I had to space it to avoid punishment. Then switched to the
overhead options.

To be fair, I wanted to douse myself in Sub-Zero bits... so I was aiming
for getting my Brutality on.

I see Quan's face covered in blood using the "feels good man" meme. Lol.

Ironically Sub is one of Sonya's hardest matchups as she doesn't have an
easy ay of getting in unless you switch variations. I noticed a couple of
guys trying the matchup but then quickly changing characters when realizing
how good clone is in that matchup, you can't be too reckless :P

The only reason I knew how to play it was because the matches I'd had
against Sap in weeks past :]

Salie pretty much described things to watch out for perfectly. When at
neutral and you're playing against fireball happy Subby, the temptation is
to duck low so you don't get hit by the fireballs at all. This is when the
random slide hits you so I prefer to just to block low always and close the
distance when I know there's an opportunity to do so. If the slide does
come you get your full punish in any case. In fact I think at most
distances it makes sense to be blocking low since the overhead stuff is
easier to react to.

In the corner against ice clone setups, I find it's easier to block low
and then react to the overhead each time if it comes out. If you do decide
to block the two lows, the follow-up fireball is super punishable so combos
that switch sides are good for switching up the momentum. Also mixing up
blocking low with neutral jump in the corner is pretty good too since you
get a full punish on the whiffed overhead each time.

Yeah, I noticed that Draeka was jumping out o that D'vorah ground bees

His neutral game is pretty good , but dat Sonya mix-ups were are bit too
much too deal with, so Cassie might also give problems.

I bet GB is feeling himself after beating Draeka 3-0

I hope he enjoyed the games enough that he makes a turn in the future.

DP plays Mileena, so Draeka should know that match-up reasonably well.

Oh and corner clone setups are pointless against D'Vorah, but he seems
to know when it's safe to jump out of her setups. Or maybe Dr. Zol just
wasn't using the right string.

It looks like he's prepared for the Mileena matchup. In fact, whenever
you see him just chilling out it's generally because he knows what the
character's options are so you are forced to play neutral He's ready for
projectiles (slide), teleport (block high) and the overhead string (block
high).

He got used to Reptiles low into overhead after getting hit about 4 or 5
times, but it's still a mixup after all. You can also just low into
throw. However, he will EX Ground Pound if you give him too much time to
react.

Sword version. He likes the range of the weapons.

Expect him to do Scorp’s d+3/d+4 – whichever one has the best range.
After that, none of Scorp’s normal in the Inferno/Hellfire options can hit
the opponent, but the f+2 launcher with swords will hit. He likes doing
that.

In sword stance he loses the very safe overhead (f+2) for the launcher
and just has the vaguely safe f+4 overhead.

From chatting to Draeka, he uses Subby as much as Scorpion. It was his
choice for the finals in Jhb, so maybe that is his level.

Hehe. Lots of D’Vorah to come then. I really need to spend a bit of time
tonight or tomorrow getting some practice in. Not really that geared up for
the tourney.

Sesh was great. We had Draeka play FT3 sets. He used Grandmaster Sub all
the way through. He lost most of his matches initially but eventually
started playing a bit more comfortably. I know he has other pocket
characters so l have no doubt that he was sandbagging, but l'm not
surprised that he decided to grind it out with Sub just to feel people out.
Saturday will be interesting for sure, as Raj and Gamerkidd weren't
present and Zolani and Di were playing their pocket characters *lol* I'd
like to see how Draeka adapts to Zol's Brood Mother and Di's Swarm Queen.
