Thx, Mike, for explaining how this model was designed and
fabricated. It would seem their approach allowed them the opportunity
to better match details and road numbers on the CPR units than what
actually happened.
The Intermountain website indicates the CPR units are already sold out
so perhaps they may contemplate a rerun. It would seem that an
objective email to them suggesting better coordination of details and
road numbers should such a rerun be made might do some good.
Alternatively or perhaps coincident with a rerun they might even be
persuaded to produce a more accurate shell alone that they would swap
out with those who purchased the units already, dare I suggest at no
charge to the modeler? I understand Broadway Limited did such a thing
within the past year with their B&M E-7A, a unit also of interest to
some CPR modelers. This model came with a body shell that was
decorated incorrectly. It was brought to BLI's attention and
eventually new shells produced and swapped at no cost I was told.
Good luck if anyone wants to pursue this swap possibility. I've had
some dealings this past year with Intermountain over their General
American-Pfaudler steel milk tank cars and found their response and
even demeanor unsatisfactory.
