have arisen than answers. First, were all of the 180 cars from
the 226000-228799 series that were upgraded for passenger
service in 1943 to the 29019-29199 series repainted to the
tuscan/black scheme at that time? Were any returned to oxide
red? Other than the 10 cars converted for bulk mail and
renumbered 4901-4910 in 1967, were any others painted
aluminum with the tuscan lettering? I don't have any Equipment
Registers other than portions of the 1972 version in the back
of Dorin's CPR book. There it appears to indicates that 29019
-29113 were the only straight boxcars suitable for passenger
service. Where did 29114-29199 go and when? BTW, the
Just to add to the confusion, here are some excerpts from several
official CPR publications.

"M.P. 14 Summary of Equipment Issued July 1, 1947"
Freight Car Equipment - Box
Series No. of Cars
----------- -----------
29019 - 29094 76
226000 - 228799 2728
If I've done my math properly there are 2800 numbers available in the
22600 series but only 2728 cars. This leaves a difference of 72 cars
but with 76 cars in the 29019 series there are 4 cars unaccounted for.
Both series are listed as built in 1937 and these are the only
boxcars built in 1937. The 29019 series are also listed as equipped
for passenger train service.
