Thanks Don. Do you know which other Canadian cars were turned at Sudbury and
stayed there awaiting the east bound train? Was the west bound train a daytime
schedule through the 70's? I took the Canadian in '81, and it was a midnight
departure from Toronto, arriving in Sudbury at 0700.

Starting some time in the early 1970s the Toronto section only had a Park
car during the busy summer season. The Park car on the Toronto section of
The Canadian never ran west of Sudbury. Toronto-Sudbury was always a daytime
run so the beds wouldn't normally be made down. The rooms could be occupied
for daytime us by passengers who had rooms on a Montreal section car west of
Sudbury. (Same could be done the other way around. I once had a room on a
sleeper out of Montreal and had to transfer at Sudbury to a sleeper from
Toronto.)
I have no idea where they turned the Park car. It couldn't have been a very
awkward maneuver since CP turned several cars every day that operated only
east of Sudbury off both Montreal and Toronto sections of the Canadian and
Dominion.

Questions about switching The Canadian in Sudbury in the 1970's: 1) did both
the Toronto and Montreal sections of the Canadian arrive / leave with "Park"
cars? 2) and if yes, where did they turn the "Park" cars? 3) what happened
to passengers in the bedrooms in the extra Park car?
