Dick:

I have a photo of a section gang working on the West Bench at Penticton about 1920, complete with powered speeder. I have a number of shots showing speeders taken in the 1930s on KV territory. I doubt that there will be too much difference between the KV and your territory on that score. The one detail to watch out for is that the speeders will not have any windbreak across the front of the speeder in the 1920s-30s eras as was the case after World War Two. As Mac states, until about 1946-48, Section Foremen had to buy their own motors. The three wheeled velocipedes were around for a long time, but I've never seen a photo of the four-man handpump car in even the 1920s photos.

We are detailing a scene, on the diorama at the Maple Ridge Museum,
that will include a couple of line side buildings, one of which is a
hand car shed.
We would like to know when CPR started providing their MOW crews with
motorized cars as opposed to the four manpower handcars. The diorama is
set in the early 1930's so we want to have the correct era equipment in
place.

Thanks for any thoughts.
