Rob,
Are you talking about the car that's in front of two tank cars? I blew the
photo up and I don't see a dome on the car. It looks more like a marine
boiler strapped on a flat car to me. The large openings on the end would be
the flues.

Subject: [cpsig] BC Forestry Museum pitch tank car
A while ago there was some discussion on this list of a car that is part of
the collection at the BC forestry museum. It is unusual because of the
multiple pipes protruding out the one end. We called it a pitch car, I
think? In any event, I jsut found an in service photo of one of these
cars - not a clear shot but clear enough. Its in the City of Vancouver
Library Photo collection as photo #30290. If you search their site by that
number, it comes up as a yard shot on the Vancouver waterfront, taken from
the viaduct over the tracks to Pier D, looking railway east.
