Were some of these cars built with handhold pockets, or were all retrofitted,
and if so, when?
The 2200 series coaches were built in two orders 2200-2234 delivered in 1948
and 2235-2298 delivered 1949. The first order had grab irons mounted on the
side. The second order had iron pockets. The drawings we have for the 2200’s
are the 2235-2298 series cars. The drawing B-14-C-860 isn’t a retro fit but
actually a construction drawing for all the cars listed in the drawing index.
I have pictures of 4 cars from the 2200-2234 series. It doesn’t appear to me
that they were retrofitted at any time.
