The recent outbreak of SARS in Toronto has prompted many to
cancel their attendance at the NMRA National convention.
We have carefully considering the situation we have decided
that, as long as the NMRA decides to hold the convention and
there is not a travel advisory in place for Toronto at the time of the
Convention, we will attend as scheduled.
Model railroading is strong in Canada and this year's convention
provides a unique opportunity for us to meet our Canadian
customers. The convention volunteers have worked long and
hard on this convention and it promises to be one of the best in
recent years. Supporting the growth of Model Railroading in
Canada is very important to us. That is why we plan to continue
to support this event.
SARS is a very serious illness but is not unknown to most of the
model railroad manufacturers. Most of us have production
facilities in southern China and it is a situation we have had to
deal with lately.
While we expect the news from Toronto to be bleak during the
next two weeks, we also expect that by summer that the SARS
problem in Toronto will be a thing of the past.
We look forward to a meeting you all this summer at the NMRA
National Convention in Toronto.
