The "red and grey" car is a Pullman. That paint scheme was for service on
Seaboard's Orange Blossem Special and only lasted a couple of years in the
early 50's. Quite a few Pullmans in pool service would work the Florida trade
in the winter and work the Canadian Rockies trade in the summer. Branchline
Trains catalogues a Pullman 6-3 in this paint scheme with three different names.

released by Charles Smiley. It is 1 1/2 hours in length and covers the
years 1952 through 1973. There is also one sequence filmed in 1939. The
entire DVD is in color, cost was $29.95.
There are many sequences taken from Banff to Field of CPR passenger trains
and what struck me was the number of Pullman coaches on trains such as the
"Dominion" in the years prior to the introduction of the "Canadian". One
sequence included two Pullmans on a triple headed steam powered passenger
train, another included two Pullmans on a double headed passenger train and
yet another sequence included one Pullman. Another sequence was of a 12 car
passenger train with an unidentified head end car, 5 Pullmans, one
Pennsylvania one Western Pacific and the remainder being CPR passenger cars
including a Grove sleeper. All of the above trains had the CPR open air
observation car at the rear and were powered by CPR steam locomotives.
Another train had what I believe to be 3 Pullmans, although I could not read
Pullman in the letterboard, but those three passenger cars were green. And
finally, another CPR passenger train with an unidentified passenger car that
was red and grey, the grey being above and below the windows.
This DVD was released this year, I got mine at Credit Valley Railway. It
includes CPR, Soo Line, CNR, GTR, Deux Montagnes electrics, QRL&P, QC,
Esquimalt & Nanaimo, PGE and logging lines on Vancouver Island. I was very
impressed with the quality of this DVD and would recommend it to anyone with
an interest in this time period.
