I know the C.P. picked up farmers' milk cans delivered to the
station in West Burke, VT in the 40's and early 50's (thanks, Keith).
If asked, I would have assumed that this milk was interchanged to the B&M and
on to Boston. But I got to thinking about the H.P. Hood creamery in Barnet, two
hours south, where the cans could have been dropped for processing/cooling.
I'm wondering if there is any info about how this milk was handled?
Also, in ETT 34, 10/50, there were three earlier southbound second class
"Interstate Freights" in addition to the afternoon #770 "milk" and #212
Alouette. Would the CP have put a baggage or milk can car in a freight consist
to get the cans picked up in the morning?
Thanks Dan
