Hello CP SIG,
I've been doing some research in order to scratch build a model of the
Emery Flag Station.
I've been working from a pen and ink drawing from John Geerts.
I'm looking for some technical information on this structure.
Measurements and diagrams. As well as some more photographs.
Here's what I have so far:
Emery is on the Mac Tier Sub of the CPR near Weston Rd and Finch Ave W
in Toronto... It was origionally called Dayton, but the name was
changed to avoid confusion between it and Dayton Ohio. LOL!

Which shows that the other end is pretty much the same, but still no
rear shot.

In the pen and ink drawing that I have of Emery station, John Geerts
must have been using the first picture without any other references to
work from. He therefore made the roof more semetrical front to back
and created a larger eaves in the rear of the building to match the
front. However, he kept the peak/ridge in the same place and the
result gives a bit of a distorted perspective, which isn't too
noticable unless you really look hard.
Aesthetically, the station is more attractive with the eaves extended
to the rear, but it's inaccurate all the same. :-(
I think that it is safe to assume that the other end wall is identical
to the one we can see in the picture. You can see a window through
the open door. Also, I can assume that it follows the same design as
Crombies, Rockford and Laurel.
It's the elusive rear wall that has me wondering. I'll guess that it
is just a blank wall, but there's also the question of whether there's
a stove or fireplace in there.
Crombies has a brick chimney. My guess for the other stations is that
if there was anything it would be a small parlor stove with a smoke
jack protruding from the rear wall... 'Though it is more likely that
there wouldn't be any stove for such an under used station. It
wouldn't be safe to leave a fire unattended.
The elaborate lightning rods with all the filigre are something else
too.. They're very ornate, along with the pillasters on the front
corners of the building.
Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated.
