Thank you very much, Fred. I look forward to your being able to do this as
whatever information you have will be most helpful to me. While it is nice in
concept that both C.GEORGE and C.CHURCHILL exist in some form to the present
their locations compared to where I live approximately 30 km north of New York
City does me little good. And while I travel to various parts of Canada
occasionally on business I can't rely on such trips for hobby purposes.
Right now my modeling of C.CHURCHILL is held up pending resolution of a number
of the roof detals on both sides of the clerestory and lower roof deck not to
mention the upper roof deck. It appears that details in the vicinity of the
buffet and adjacent compartment differ from other CAPEs shown in various books
that I have, e.g. the distinctive CPR-style AC duct to the compartment is
lacking on C.GEORGE and C.CHURCHILL. Also, it appears that C.GEORGE and
C.CHURCHILL may lack the relatively large (approx. five-feet square) AC roof
hatch that so many CPR HWs had.
A final comment about C.GEORGE...It's interesting that this car survives to
this day. It was banged-up pretty good in a 1954 derailment of the "Red Wing"
just north of Boston. I have couple of wreck photos (others have been published
in books over the years) but they are proprietary and copyrighted by others and
I'm not at liberty to post them.
