Some time ago it came up that this model was closest to a D10j (962-986).
962 was the one which received tuscan red number panels on the cab and a tuscan
red tender
panel like passenger engines. This was applied for a 1947 inspection train but
the 962 kept
the special paint for several years after.
It's best to work from a photo as D10s could have high or centre mounted
headlights and some had
footboard pilots. Other details like pumps and power reverse mountings could
vary and some were oil burners..
