There was a lot of headend traffic handled on 22 as well. Full baggage car
(lots of overseas travelers, the train was known as the "Overseas" for some
time). Also, a number of mail cars (inc. RPO) and express cars. Number 22
operated in sections many nights of the week for much of the high season.
Second 22 handled the headend traffic. At busy holidays 3 or 4 sections were
not unknown.
